As large, crowded, corporate box stores flourish

As large, crowded, corporate box stores flourish and are deemed safe by our city, county and state, small businesses are still not allowed to open in any meaningful way. What we HAVE been offered are platitudes, vague timelines and frequent “updates”. What we have NOT been offered is any practical assistance or financial support. The federal stimulus was poorly planned and not useable unless we can actually open! In the meantime there have been 4 break-in attempts at our facility and the to-go model is proving to be a bore and not financially sustainable. (The owner/operator is actually consuming more than he is selling. 🙁 ) It is likely there will be more murders in #Oakland this year than death by #Covid-19, YET eating a meal in an OUTDOOR #restaurant, separated from staff, and other patrons by 6 feet or more, is deemed “HIGH RISK” cough cough…. We’re NOT writing this looking for a hand out, donations to a (gofund my current lifestyle because I’m broke campaign), or even more half assed stimulus from a half assed federal govt. What we DO want is for the unelected officials of Alameda county to give us our meager lives back so we can EARN some money to pay our bills in order to sustain what many of us have worked and scraped our entire lives to do! There is a SAFE way to do this that will not result in the #apocalypse. Time is running out, and has for many small businesses already. If any of this makes sense to you please write to @libbyschaaf as well as the Alameda County board of supervisors and let them know how you feel. Unless of course you’re one of the few looking forward to a meal at the Amazon bar and grill or a cocktail at the Facebook/Google lounge. Sounds like a blast!! If we don’t act very, very soon, Oakland and SF, almost already there actually, will be looking a lot like Times Square and frankly that is something I’m REALLY afraid of. #reopening #SIP

In the meantime we’ve already created a #sociallydistant path to the #beergarden Where you can choose the nature pod of your choice by reservation. You will be at least 6 feet away and separated by plants to the table nearest you. hopefully @libbyschaaf @gavinnewsom will create these guidelines soon as the #stimulus so far for small business has been inadequate, poorly planned, or not user friendly for its supposed intended users #ppp #sbaloans #sfeater

😔We are so sad to postpone/cancel the Freak Show party this March 28th, but would LOVE nothing more than to share the beautiful work that @freak_comix beautified our gallery with.
