East Bay Eats brings community together to raise money for different non-profit organizations working in the East Bay (and SF!). Every other month – with pop ups in between – we host a family-style, community dinner at some of the Bay’s most beloved restaurants. To date, our work has raised over $300K for a variety of amazing organizations.
Join us February 23rd at new Oakland pop-up Popoca to support the incredible work of Rainbow Community Center of Contra Costa County, which provides a safe and welcoming place and builds community among LGBTQ+ persons and our allies. Rainbow provides a wide array of wellbeing services for LGBTQ+ individuals of all ages clinical and case management services, peer-based support groups, senior services and lunches, a food pantry, HIV testing, diversity training, and youth programs. (https://www.rainbowcc.org)
After building a career in fine-dining kitchens around the greater Bay Area, Chef Anthony Salguero is realizing his dream of sharing Salvadorian food with his home community in Oakland. Popoca offers dishes – like pupusas and tamales made with seasonal ingredients and fresh-milled masa – inspired by traditional Salvadorian wood-fire cooking and recipes. (https://www.popocaoakland.com)
Representatives from Rainbow will share information about their work, and we will be raising additional funds at the event for the organization. A signature cocktail may be ordered throughout the night at the cash bar – 100% of the proceeds will also be donated to the organization.
Tickets cost $60-100 per person, wine included, for a multicourse, prix-fixe meal.

Mutual Friends is a group show curated by Oakland-based artist Jocelyn Tsaih, featuring work from California-based artists. The show is inspired by the tight-knit art community in the Bay Area and how everybody seems to be connected through friends and friends of friends.
